This paper discusses the practical aspects of a 14 Mbps HSDPA terminal. In the first part of the paper, the possibility of achieving 13.98 Mbps is examined and conclusions are drawn with respect to the required EC/IOR. The equalization techniques to receive an HSDPA transmission are introduced and practical implementation aspects are discussed next. Finally, simulated and real time throughput measurement results are shown for the 3GPP type approval test cases.
