This paper describes a high spatial resolution OTDR measurement technique for PON, which employs optical filters installed at the end of optical fiber lines. This technique can measure bending or splice losses in an attenuation dead zone just behind the Fresnel reflection of an optical splitter by using a dead-zone-free signal analysis method.
