The aspects of applying MIMO techniques to the UMTS HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access) transmission, assuming a multi-user scenario, are introduced. The Shannon capacity measure, working as the uplink transmitted channel metric, performs a major role - namely in transmission rate determination, frame error rate estimation, and scheduling at node B.
