In This work the results of numerical analysis are presented of ultrashort pulse propagation in a highly birefringent optical fiber for a super Gaussian initial pulse. It is assumed that the initial pulse is polarized linearly and guided into the fiber at an angle of 45/spl deg/ to its polarization axes. The analysis was carried out by numerically solving a pair of coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equations using the split step Fourier method. The calculations were performed for an optical fiber without attenuation.
