Voice-driven testing and instruction

A review is given of the uses of programs written in languages that enable machines to respond to unrestricted, conversational natural language input, and their special requirements are addressed. The operation and applications of one particular system, the Computer Assisted Socratic Instruction Program, or CASIP, are described. CASIP is a dedicated authoring language written in C, comprising over 7000 lines of code. It is generally used as an interpreter that uses external data files of words, phrases, responses, and run-time instructions.<
