The proposed paper is devoted to the development of the energy efficiency estimation technique of data transmission protocols of the IEEE 802.11 wireless local area network (WLAN) using the energy-constrained devices, such as notebooks, laptops, and PDAs, in their mobile application. The criterion of energy efficiency estimation for Wi-Fi data transmission protocols is proposed. Using this criterion it is possible to prolong the mobile station battery life.
