The paper proposes the realization of a wireless visual sensor. The sensing hardware is represented by a a low cost gray scale camera, while the transmission hardware is realized using a BlueTooth 300 m slave module that makes it able to he inserted as a node in a medium range BlueTooth measurement network. The proposed sensor, designed to satisfy precise specifications in terms of image transfer rate and power consumption, represents a good solution for image acquisition in a wide range of applications where wirings between camera and image processor are not wanted. In the paper, after a description of hardware and working principle, the sensor static and dynamic characteristics are reported.
