As the quick development of the agent and grid technologies, more opportunities and challenges are brought into the area of workflow. These technologies provide workflow with an ideal computing environment, which help business and science goals to be achieved effectively by means of integrating various distributed resources in an easy to access environment. The distributed workflow architecture is proposed, which integrates concepts and technologies from Web services, grid and agents. With this approach, coordination of workflow is achieved by communication between agents. Moreover, this approach enhances scalability and reliability.
