In typical W-CDMA propagation environments, the interference level is an important factor constraining user's QoS. Adaptive type smart antennas are an effective solution for the interference problem. The paper describes an implementation of digital beamforming modules needed for appropriate operation of a UMTS adaptive antenna. The true performance of the proposed modules is checked using a smart antenna prototype (ADAM). Measured data obtained from this prototype are presented in graphical form.
