The select-and-hold policy (SAH) is a general form of selection diversity combining (SDC). In this letter, we provide closed-form expressions for average level crossing rate and average fade duration for Nth-order SAH-SDC. The diversity branches are assumed to be independent and identical Rayleigh fading channels. A useful guideline for choice of the holding time is also obtained.
