In this paper, we investigate the turbo decoding performance dependency on some major parameters of SOVA by employing the statistical method, ANOVA. The analysis and simulation result show that the decoding performance of SOVA largely depends on the extrinsic information scaling among other parameters and only about 0.1 dB performance degradation at 10-4 of BER can be obtained for a K = 4, 1/3 turbo code with respect to the max-log-MAP decoding.
