We present an analytical solution of the transient induction voltage of a receiving coil created by the transient eddy currents induced by a transmitting coil over a conducting plate for the case of a simple cylindrical geometry and infinite plate thickness. Using this analytical solution, we derive three approximations of the transient induction voltage for the case of a plate having finite thickness. Comparison with measurements shows that the approximations are accurate within 1% or better.
