Coordination mechanism is a core technology in real-time cooperative multimedia system. There are two important criterions for it: real-time and interaction. Based on the discussion of distributed real-time cooperative multimedia system, a coordination mechanism is presented. By building a delay and delay variation bounded multicast tree, the coordination server is selected and adjusted. The algorithm of building delay and delay variation bounded multicast tree is described in detail. Simulation results and practical application show that the coordination mechanism has preferably capability of real-time and interaction.
