In this paper the influence of coil geometry on the eddy current and temperature distribution on the surface of continuously moving thin strips in transverse flux induction heating (TFIH) equipment is presented. Taking advantage of the relation between the distribution of the eddy current and the coil geometry, suitable coil geometry can be designed, which contributes to a uniform temperature distribution on the surface of the strip at the inductor outlet. With such a coil geometry numerical studies on the problem of TFIH are presented. The eddy current field and its coupled thermal field are computed by three dimensional finite element method (FEM).
