Efficient front-end thread scheduling for simultaneous multithreading, where priority given to a thread can be overridden if it suffers from an excessive amount of incorrectly speculated instructions, is presented. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme not only significantly reduces the number of wrong-path instructions but also improves the instruction throughput.
