In this paper we define a problem of output regulation for nonlinear distributed parameter systems, in the non-equilibrium setting. We also give necessary and sufficient conditions for a controller to solve the output regulation problem. This result is then illustrated for the heat equation and for a class of nonlinear reaction-diffusion equations.
