This paper describes the Shinmeika-Tokai line's design, fabrication and construction. This important power supply line delivers power from the thermal power station to the center of Nagoya via the substation. The entire line is laid in an underground tunnel at the depth of approximately 30 m and which contains curves with a minimum radius of curvature of 150m. Shafts used for GIL unit insertion are located at entire end, and a ventilation shaft is located at a halfway point. The application of a GIL has been limited to short transmission line.
