Computer generated actor is an important kind of entity in distributed virtual environment. Different from human in the loop controlled entity, it is controlled by computer. This paper summarizes the main research topics of computer generated actor, and presents an example of the entity: the autonomous entity that travels on the land in the virtual environment, gives the architecture and the main modules, including the terrain database, global path planning module and collision avoidance module.
