We have described the power system and the battery management for mobile phones used by NTT DoCoMo subscribers. We focus on the energy requirements of the phones' AC-adaptors, their power-management systems, and trend in energy consumption. Safety tests of new Li-ion batteries, quick tests assessing capacity deterioration, and lifetime predictions are also presented.
