The paper presents a data-based paradigm for rapid deployment of advanced avionics displays. The database concepts, tools, and runtime software described in this paper provide a methodology for creating advanced avionics displays, such as those found in modern OpenGL based flat-panel systems. The key innovation described is the ability to treat the avionics displays as databases rather that as compiled and linked software, and the resulting benefits in terms of system development, maintenance, and lifecycle costs.
