With the development of the parallel computing technologies in recent years, cluster technology becomes the main research field of parallel processing. To meet the demand for the higher capability of parallel computing, the number of nodes in a cluster system increases gradually. Thus, how to monitor and manage a cluster system effectively is the key to make good use of the large-scale parallel computing capability of it. Analysis is made from the point of remote management technology in cluster management system. Three remote management technologies used in the Dawning 3000 cluster system: Java RMI, RMI using Java multithread (MultiRMI) and PCMD and their communication mechanisms are presented as instances. The comparison and analysis of the performance and scalability of these three remote management technologies is emphasised.
