A beamformer for burst interference suppression is proposed for an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) system with receiver diversity. The proposed beamformer is a generalized sidelobe canceller (GSC) with a modified blocking matrix. The modified GSC blocking matrix using channel estimation results is proposed to combat the fading channel effects. Moreover, the diagonal loading method is used to obtain a beamforming performance robust against system imperfections. The simulation results show that the proposed beamformer greatly improves the system performance when strong interference exists.
