TV systems are currently undergoing digitalization and will become more multifunctional, leading to more complex TV operation. The paper introduces a new interface system for a digital TV control utilizing speech recognition. A speech recognition system, which is designed for home use, especially for digital TV, must be simple and robust to speaker variations caused by generation diversity. The remote control must enable an instant functionality and is equipped with a built-in microphone and press-to-talk switch. The whole system utilizes speaker adaptation techniques for assisting the user.
