A novel fuzzy image sequence stabilisation system is proposed. A short mean filter is applied to raw absolute frame displacements as a pre-process, to reduce the dynamic range of the fuzzy system input. This enables the fuzzy system to give appropriate responses with a fewer number of membership functions, giving improved performance at reduced computational load. Fuzzy stabilisation is achieved through fuzzy correction mapping for the stabilisation process defined in the form of a standard discrete time-invariant system.
