The problems that the Russian universities faced within the integration into the world educational community require the establishment of the system of public professional accreditation of educational programmes compatible with the international standards. The paper presents a new version of the accreditation criteria for engineering programmes developed by the Accreditation Centre (AC) of the Russian Association for Engineering Education. New criteria are based on those of the ABET taking into account the Russian state educational standard and practice of the AC.
