The theory for a new phased array based on the extended resonance power dividing/phase shifting technique has been presented. Extended resonance based phased arrays eliminate the need for a separate power splitter and phase shifters to a conventional phased array system, which results in a very compact and simple circuit structure at lower cost. Simulated results for the loss and the maximum scanning range for various array sizes have been given.
