Using the typical design parameters for the manufacturing of the induction motor, motor length (L), rotor diameter (D), stator inner diameter ( Din), and external diameter (Dex), number of coils (Ts), slot depth (ht), airgap length (lg) and so on, and introducing fuzzy logic for the design of the correction factors, as winding factor (Kws), Carter factor (Kc) we can achieve the equivalent circuit parameters, (R1,R2,Xm,X1,X2). These are the parameters that define the main performance of an induction motor, (torque curve, current curve). We can modify the equivalent circuit parameters, only changing the typical design motor parameters, as motor length (L), or slot depth (ht) and in this way the performance of the induction motor, locked rotor current (Icc), nominal current (In), locked rotor torque (Tcc) maximum torque (Tm) and nominal torque (Tn). Using the motor model built by Matlab/Simulink, we can get different motor performances, Icc, In, Tn, Tcc, Tm for several motor designs. So we have the tools for building a fuzzy model, and use as inputs, the desired customer performance parameters, Ice, In, Tm, Tcc, Tn, as outputs motor length (T), rotor slot depth (htr) and stator slot depth (hts). This is an easy and fast way, using fuzzy systems, to design motors from the required performance parameters.
