The two types of design methods for nonlinear control systems have been proposed. One is based on the analytical approach, where a nonlinear controller is constructed through the energy balancing (EB) passivity-based control, and the other is based on the numerical approach, where a nonlinear controller is numerically approximated through a virtual optimal control algorithm, Moreover, those two methods are demonstrated to be efficient in the nonlinear situation through the design problem of a jet engine compressor model.
