A new technique to design the power system stabilizer (PSS) based on single-input fuzzy logic controller (SFLC) is proposed to enhance the damping of a power system A special feature of the SFLC is that it can greatly reduce the number of fuzzy decision rules table to a one-dimensional space. The proposed approach is developed for designing the tuning parameters, of the SFLC PSS by strip-eigenvalue placement based on linear quadratic regulator (LQR) method. that does not involve choosing the weighting matrices. The output feedback SFLC PSS is designed by the minimum excitation error (MEE) criteria. The nonlinear simulation is used to show that the proposed SFLC PSS significantly improves the electromechanical mode oscillations of the power system in a large disturbance and a wide range of operating conditions.
