Semi-lightpath algorithm to establish simultaneous wavelength routing and wavelength assignment (RAW) in WDM cross-connect has been considered to quantify blocking probability, the benefit of wavelength conversion, conversion gain and fairness, in regular and irregular WDM network topologies. The distinct superiority of the present algorithm over other RAW algorithms has been established from the performance results obtained through detailed network simulation.
