A 64-channel WDM wavelength-selective receiver, which consists of a WDM channel selector and a photodiode, is demonstrated for the first time. Error-free operation for a 1.25 Gbit/s NRZ signal is confirmed Typical sensitivity is -14 dBm at a BER of 10-9. Successful channel selection with a switching time of less than 10 ns is obtained.
