We have demonstrated a fiber ring laser operating in the L-band using a simple and reliable tunability method. The laser shows a tuning range of ∼20 nm and high output power. This property is achieved by means of an intracavity attenuator, performed by a controlled bending applied to the taper, showing good wavelength selection and low variation in the lasing output power.
