The unique reconstruction of a scalar or vectorial field from its values on an arbitrary surface to which it has propagated through an arbitrary medium

The problem of the determination of the values of a field on a surface to which it has propagated through an arbitrary medium is shown to have a unique solution if the field satisfies any linear elliptic partial differential equation.
