Radiative transition probabilities have been computed for relaxation of the metastable5F1and5 F_{2} J -manifolds of Pm3+YAG. The Pm3+YAG system is analyzed for 4-level room-temperaure population inversion leading to 0.92-μ coherent radiation; Pm3+YAG is compared to Nd3+YAG as a CW laser.
