This paper describes the basic architecture of the optical (CAMAC) serial highway system first, and then the architecture of the newly developed byte serial U-port adapter for optical transmission (BUAO), which is a key component of the optical highway system, as well as the results of experiments conducted on the system. Finally, this paper describes the measurement system in Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute as an application of the system.
