Short-pulsed Nd:YAG laser microsurgery of the eye: Biophysical considerations

-switched and mode-locked neodymium: YAG laser pulses can be used to produce optical breakdown inside the eye, permitting surgical disruption of transparent or pigmented ocular tissues. The physical processes responsible for the initiation, propagation, and control of this important and novel class of laser tissue interactions are reviewed.
