Frequency tuning of a line tunable CO2wavegnide laser by use of a Fox-Smith mode selector is reported. The laser delivers output powers up to 2 W with a tuning range of 500 MHz. Design criteria for a laser with higher output power and larger tunability are obtained from an experimental investigation of the mode selector losses and comparison with the theory.
