A CO2laser is described which may be actively stabilized in any of four differentR/Pline pairs in the 10.4 μ band. The laser may be caused to rapidly switch between line pairs. The degree of frequency stability achieved issim1:10^{10}, 5 Hz and above, andsim1:10^{8}, 0-5 Hz. The laser may be switched through the four line pairs in ∼100 ms.
