The operational performance of a superconducting alternator is analyzed by a FEM. Frequency response near 1 Hz is analyzed for analyzing dynamic stability of the machine in an electric-power system. In the FEM the magnetic field is described by a magnetic scalar potential, and the eddy-current in rotor dampers is solved by a stream function. The calculations are compared with the test values of superconducting alternators which have been manufactured in Japan.
