A computer-based approach to power supply design is presented and illustrated with a high-power forward converter example. The approach demonstrates a highly effective method of using computers to achieve design optimization while reducing design time and cost. A system-level simulation tool, based on generalized averaged models, is also presented and its use is illustrated with hardware measurements
