Simple analog MOS circuits provide real-time contour extraction for video signals from CCD images. Variation in ambient lighting and complexity can be accommodated using novel MOS analog counters. Applications include industrial controls and prosthetics. The possibility of automatic picture focusing is demonstrated with the contour extraction technique developed in this project.
