The WG3 of IEC TC21 has made further progress in the establishment of an International Standard for Stationary Lead Acid Batteries of the VRLA type. The section specifying the test methods (IEC 60896-2-1) has progressed to the IEC CDV stage and all 21 test clauses have won the informal support of battery manufactures and battery users. The test clauses, test data format and test purpose are listed. The section specifying the requirements (IEC 60896-2-2) has progressed also and reached the IEC CD stage.
