A CMOS 70 MB/S(RZ) 16x16 crosspoint switch for ternary encoded signals

This paper describes a 16x16 crosspoint switch that can handle data rates of up Io 70 Mb/s RZ (rem-t*zero; equivalent to 140 Mbls NRZ) per channel. The chip described below can be used to perform direct point-to-point or point-to-multipoint (broadcast) switching and is designed for use in an asynchronous cross connection system at the DS3 rate. ne switch can be addressed like a memory chip and the cross COM~CI map can be written to and read from the device.
