Based on the coherent-coupling effect, a novel wide-angle low-loss multisectional bending waveguide is proposed. The bending waveguide consists of a series of corner bends connected by straight waveguides of uniform length. The angles of the corner bends are the same except that those of the first and the last bends are only halves of them. For the same total bend angle and transmission efficiency, simulated and experimental results show that the area required for the proposed bend is smaller than those for the conventional multisectional bend and the circular bend.
