In this paper, a mathematical model of multi-area interconnected power systems with deviation form is established in state spaces based on the system features and control requirements of decentralized AGC. The Riccati equation method of stability analysis is adopted to obtain the stability conditions of this kind of systems. These conditions can be described by subsystems completely and be applied to practice very easily.
