8 × 8 and 16 × 16 digital smart pixel arrays have been developed. Each pixel has a processing element, a photodetector, an LED, and diffractive optical elements. In addition, some image-processing algorithms have been implemented on the digital smart pixel array. The maximum processing speed in experiments was 0. 1 ms/frame
