Developed by Research In Motion (http://rim.net), based in Waterloo, Ontario, BlackBerry was recently launched in Asia and expansion is underway in Europe. Once the Black- Berry software is installed on a client company's server, the device can provide a mobile version of Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes. When an email message comes into the email server and is directed to the appropriate desktop machine, BlackBerry routes it through the company server to the wireless device. Heralded by a buzz or beep, the message arrives almost instantaneously, via a push technology (which 'pushes' information to the user rather than waiting until he or she specifically requests it). Because the user doesn??t need to turn on the device or dial in to check for messages, BlackBerry bills itself as the "Always on, always connected" wireless solution.
