This paper describes the design and experimental results of a low voltage 1.8 V pseudo-differential input operational amplifier in a standard CMOS process. A novel pseudo-differential input stage was introduced, which provides a large input common mode range without using any low threshold MOSFET. The chip was fabricated using a 1.2 μm 2-metal 2-poly CMOS technology. The operational amplifier has a measured 80 dB gain, 350 kHz unity gain frequency, and large (± 0.35 V from rails) input common mode voltage range. Its limitations are also discussed.
