The authors describe a simple model to calculate brightness temperature and surface-energy balance for a forest-canopy system. The root mean-square (RMS) error in brightness temperature was 2.5°C. The corresponding RMS errors for net radiation, latent, and sensible heat were 38.9, 30.7, and 41.1 W m-2 respectively
