A novel and powerful computational technique, based on hybridization of the Method of Moments and the Eigenfunction Expansion Method, has been developed to investigate electromagnetic interactions between a multilayered spherical head model and antennas used in personal communications. This technique efficiently utilizes the Method of Moments to determine current distribution on an antenna in the presence of a multilayered spherical head. Once the antenna current is determined, accurate near and far field distributions are obtained through eigenfunction expansion. The technique is very flexible and suitable for systematic and parametric studies for EM interaction evaluation. In the paper, the concept and the mathematical formulation of the technique, and examples of EM interaction calculations are presented
